Lots of fun planned for this weekend's Balburigan Beach Activities Festival

Event details for the Balburigan Beach Activities Festival have been released.

The relationship between the Balburigan people and their beautiful sandy beaches will be celebrated once again with the 2nd Annual Beach Activities Festival on Sunday 14th August from 10:30am to 2:30pm.

The event will see local clubs and national governing bodies for many sports offering activities and coaching in both beach and water sports for people of all ages.

Beach fitness classes and yoga will be introduced at this year’s festival.

Filling the shores with activity, color and fun, the festival is organized by the Fingal County Council Sports Office in partnership with our Balbaligan, Balbaligan Tourism Commission, local clubs and national sports bodies.

According to Fingal Mayor Cllr Howard Mahony, the Balburigan Beach Activities Festival highlights the wonderful comforts of the local beach.

“Babaligan Beach is a wonderful place for locals and tourists alike. It’s great to see it once again filled with people enjoying all the opportunities for activity it has to offer,” says Cllr Mahony. said.

Fingal County Council Chief Executive Anne-Marie Farrelly said officials were thrilled to host the festival.

“This is a great event that highlights one of the great things about Balbaligan. The festival celebrates Balbaligan and its connection to the beach and ocean through sports and activities,” Farrelly said.

“I would like to encourage everyone to participate in at least one activity.”

Aoife Sheridan, Senior Executive Officer of Fingal County Council, said Balbriggan Beach is key to the region’s future development.

“Our Balburigan continues to work to advance important ideas and projects that benefit our town, and the Beach Activities Festival is another great example of promoting our region and what it has to offer.” Sheridan said.

The Fingal County Council Sports Office is excited to partner with Our Balbriggan to host the Balbriggan Beach Activity Day on Sunday. August 14, 2022.

At this event, both local clubs and national governing bodies such as Volleyball Ireland and Cricket Ireland will provide coaches to provide sports (beach and water) activities for youth, adults and/or families.

On the day, local teams gather to compete in the Under-8 Soccer Blitz. Join us, meet coaches and players from your local clubs and enjoy football.

Find balance in a beach yoga class. Anyone can participate regardless of age or ability.

Join the O’Dwyers GAA for fun GAA mini-games and skill training during the 2022 Balbriggan Beach Activity Day. O’Dwyers comes out of his under-8 academy and shows off his skills on the beach through his GAA blitz on a small scale.

Get your heart pumping with an exciting beach fitness class led by expert coaches and instructors. Suitable for all ages.

Beach volleyball in the first-ever Balburigan. All age groups are catered for, with a coordinator catering for similar age groups on the day.

Following its popularity in 2021, Beach Cricket is back in Balbriggan! There are fun skill games on the beach that you can try out with an expert coach for tips.

This year, Balburigan the grasshopper will be joining us to provide fun beach activities through art for ages 0-6.
